SFB Cub Scouts - Why Scouting?

Scouting encourages youth to achieve a deeper appreciation of others, including peers, parents, and community members. Early in his or her scouting journey, your child will learn the value of helping others through service projects completed in our community.

Scouting provides kids with a sense that they are important individuals. Scouts learn to resepct and get-along with one another, and in doing so learn about the value of working as a team.

Scouting activities and award programs teach personal responsibility and build self-confidence. Your child will learn many skills, but we know that is not why they want to join Cub Scouts. Kids join Cub Scouts because it's FUN!

HOW DOES CUB SCOUTING WORK?

Cub Scouts is a program within the Boy Scouts of America, where the overall mission is to help kindergarten through fifth grade children build character, learn good citizenship, and develop personal fitness. The Cub Scout program is designed to involve your child in a small group of children the same age, where together they will earn recognition for their completed activities. These small groups are called dens and your child will be placed in the den appopropriate for his or her age and grade. In addition to being a part of a den, your child will be a part of the St. Francis Borgia pack. The pack is made up of multiple den groups.

Cub Scouts is a family program! Our SFB Scouting program is a "parent and me" program, which means you get to jump in with your child, be silly, and go on adventures toghether. This also means that Scouts must always have an adult partner with them at all times. Most of our events are family events, so there are plenty of opportunitie throughout the year where the entire family can join in on the fun.

Cost

Boy Scouts of America Annual Membership Fee + First Time Registration Fee (2022): $50

This fee will cover your scout through the calendar year of 2022. This fee helps support all the wonderful resources provided for scouts by our Bay Lakes Council.

Boy Scouts of America Annual Membership Fee (2023): $125

Due in November, this fee will cover your scout through the calendar year of 2023 and is paid directly to the SFB Pack. This fee includes a $50 annual fee that goes directly to the SFB pack to help support Pack activities for the year.

Pack 3802 Annual Fee: $0

The 2022 Pack fee is waived for all new incoming Cub Scouts.

Den & Pack Activities: Varies

Our goal is to raise enough funds through our annual Fall Popcorn Sale, Brat-Fry, and Monster Garage that we will NOT have to charge for Pack and Den events.

Uniforms

Lions Uniform: $0

The pack will order your Cub Scout Belt, Neckerchief, adventure loops and rank badge.

The den leader will order your Cub Scout their official Lion’s T-Shirt, Cub Scout Belt, and all Lion’s Adventure Loops for belt. You have the option to order your Cub Scout the official Lion’s cap for $18.

Tigers/Wolves/Bears/Webeleos Uniform: $60-$83

The pack will order your Cub Scout Belt, Neckerchief, adventure loops and rank badge.

You will need to purchase the official Cub Scout Shirt, Slide, and World Crest, Council, and Pack 3802 patches, totaling approximately $60. It is recommended that uniforms be purchased in-person at our local Scout shop, Woolen Mills, located at 1125 E Washington St. West Bend, WI 53095. Uniforms may also be purchased at scoutshop.org.

You have the option to purchase your Cub Scout the Official Cap for an additional $23.
